Abstract: Water-physical properties of peat determine its harvesting, complex processing and reclamation of depleted deposits. The chemical composition of water in peat deposits depends on the water-mineral regime of a peatland. The natural ion-exchange properties of peat make it possible to clean the wastewater without causing damage to the environment. The indicator of full moisture capacity of peat allows forecasting the processes of absorption of various types of water-based pollutants. The impact of anions, cations, dissolved organic matter and surfactants on water-physical properties of peat is considered. The options of mutual influence of the structural characteristics of the sorbent (peat) and the composition of the sorbate (absorbed solution) on the system are demonstrated.
