Abstract: Analysis of hydraulic excavators’ operation shows that their actual productivity is often only 50-70% of the certified one. It can be assumed that such results are caused by scientifically unsound parameters of technological schemes, inappropriate combination of excavator-automobile complexes and low quality of preparation (crushing) of rocks for excavation. The study of technological schemes of hydraulic excavators’ application at the mines has shown that excavators mainly work with bottom digging with loading at or below the level of excavator standing. However, the optimal combination of excavator and dump truck is not always observed in terms of dump truck body capacity depending on the transportation distance. In this paper we consider possible variants of structural schemes of excavator complex operation on stripping works with dump trucks with carrying capacity of 220-240 tons. Since one of the main parameters of technological schemes of overburden face stripping are the width of the approach along the intact rock massif, the height of the bench and the width of the working area, which determine the angle of slope of the working flank, and, consequently, the current stripping ratio, which ultimately affects the cost of mined coal, the optimization of these parameters is an urgent scientific and practical task.
